The motive of the company is to push the culture of breakfast in the daily routine of the people and encourage them to eat cereals which prove to be much healthier option. In order to make this revolutionary change the company took series of decisions
The company Kellogg’s is a different company and it came into existence when cereals and cornflakes are lesser known products. The company took the risk of introducing it then and now the company has become one of the biggest companies in the world. The company catches attention because of the unique breakfast menu it introduced. The motive of the company is to push the culture of breakfast in the daily routine of the people and encourage them to eat cereals which prove to be much healthier option. In order to make this revolutionary change the company took series of decisions.
But like any other company there were issues involved in the strategic planning for the company as well. The biggest issue was the dependency of the company on just one product. Kellogg’s is only known for the cereals and range of cornflakes. The market can easily shift to another some great discovery whenever it happens. Also, people are price sensitive also as there are so many other companies also.
In country like India and other Asian countries, it was even more difficult because people in country have so many other traditional breakfast options and it is difficult to convince them and change their habit to adopt cornflakes.
Also now the company also has to compete with so many other competitors in similar industry. So many other companies have also entered in the market and trying to make their place. Therefore people now have so many options to choose from which reduces the chance of long term profitability of the business.
To deal with all the issues the company first has to diversify in their offering and introduce various other healthy options in breakfast menu. Another problem of entering into the countries which is more dependent on the traditional breakfast, the company has to develop strategy to change the mind-set of the people and position their product as a healthy option of breakfast which is need of the hour. The company will have to more aggressive in pitching this marketing message. Also to beat the competition and to stay on top, the company will have to constantly innovate either in marketing strategies or by introducing different type of products to catch the attention of the people.
